When you are just getting started, meditation can feel like a burden. You struggle with thoughts of “Am I doing this right?”, and often become completely overwhelmed by the stress of just…sitting still. It’s a lot. I get it.

Well these 4 meditation apps are here to save the day! Whether you like guided meditations, self led sessions or are looking for something that will hold you accountable with reminders and check in’s, one of these options will help you go from starting your day with stress to living your life with bliss!

1. Calm

This app is a wellness industry favorite. Winning several app awards and even tapping voices from A-listers like Mathew McConaughey to lead you deeper into yourself, Calm is easy to use with a ton of bells and whistles. Timers, guides, breath work, a new children’s section and compatibility with your Apple Watch, this app is a great resource for getting and staying on track with your mindfulness goals.

2. Simple Habit

I first came to know about Simple Habit when they appeared on an episode of ABC’s The Shark Tank and it has become a personal fav. This app has a very friendly and personal feel with a mountain of options for guided meditations that tailor to all types of lifestyles. For instance, if you're pregnant, dieting or looking to enhance your creativity at work…there is a series of meditations just for you. Simple habit is particularly good if you feel limited by time as the majority of the recordings are no more than 5 minutes.

3. Ananda

Deepak Chopra’s Ananda meditation apps are hardly promoted and rarely mentioned on lists but are an absolute dream to use. A lot of my meditation journeying has been through Deepak’s Chopra Center, so I love hearing his personal guided meditations as well as a few familiar voices from his team. The layout is slightly out of date (by design startdards) but the timer on this is a favorite of mine. There is a huge mix of tranquil instrumentals and very specific heart healing guided meditations based on his books and teachings. Three separate apps fall under the Ananda umbrella: Conscious Health, Infinite Abundance and Living In Love.

4. Ensō

Ensō is not for the faint of heart. This very simplistic app is tailored for the person who is a veteran meditator, already deeply established in their practice. Lots of ways to keep time and different sounds that can gently alert you to its intervals, Ensō is a great tool for deepening your practice and getting focused on your deepest inner self.
